In 1990, based on the findings and planning of the National Aquaculture Education Task Force, The Council put together a team of writers and technical reviewers to develop a national "core curriculum" for aquaculture education.  This 5-module, 1,100 page curriculum was introduced to over 200 agriscience teachers, teacher educators, agricultural and vocational education administrators and aquaculture extension agents from all 50 states and U.S. territories at the first National Inservice for Aquaculture Education organized at North Carolina State University in 1992.

Since releasing the "core curriculum," The Council, in collaboration with the USDA, has continued to develop, print, and distribute supplemental aquaculture instructional manuals.  These include: Species Specific manuals (covering many of the most commonly cultured aquatic organisms in North America); a "Model Aquaculture Recirculating System" (a system designed for classroom use); "Applications of Biotechnology in Aquaculture" (an introduction to biotechnology and it's application in aquaculture) and "Aquaculture as Sustainable Agriculture" (an introduction to issues related to the sustainability of aquaculture practices). 13 "How To" aquaculture education instructional and promotional materials soon to be released.
